14 days East CHINA "Trams along the Yangze river"

Trams along the Yangtze river

13. - 26. April 2024

Update: the tour program has been restructured and the order of the companies visited has changed. There is now a division into "old" companies, i.e. those that were already in operation in 2015/2016 (Suzhou, Nanjing, Huai'nan) and "new" companies that have opened since 2017 (Songjiang, Wuhan, Huangshi, Qingdao, Jiaxing). The trip can now be booked as a complete trip with all cities, but also only in the variant with only new cities.

Thanks to the rapid developments in terms of "Chinese trams", we now find a large number of new or modernized networks with mostly domestic and a few imported vehicles. However, since the country is too big and the number of lines too numerous, we have divided China into 4 tours. We'll start with "the middle" and visit the tram systems around Shanghai. Further tours in the next years to come will take us north, south, and the rest of all locations we haven't seen then...

On this trip we will devote ourselves to Shanghai (Songjiang and the Film Park), Suzhou, Jiaxing, Wuhan/Huangshi, the two lines in Nanjing, Huai'nan and Qingdao. Some factory visits are also requested.

The city's only "real" tram system operates in the extreme west of the mega-city, while another light rail network has been built on the east side of the Yangtze River. We focus on the tram, which also runs without overhead wires. Dinner and overnight in Wuhan.

Among other things, a working retro tram was also installed! We will enjoy a fare-well dinner tonight before we head to the airport to start our journey home.
